General: When Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) cancels their afternoon and evening activities for inclement weather, so does CMAA for the first TWO consecutive days FCPS are closed for an inclement weather incident. After that we take it on a day by day basis. In that situation we will make the decision by 11:00 am on the third consecutive day as to whether we will be open that day or not and that decision will be final, and we will not backtrack on the 11 am decision even if conditions improve. Our staff needs to know how they should plan for the remainder of their day. That is only fair. We will put notice on Facebook (please "like" us on Facebook), we will send email notification (please Sign up) and we will put notice on voicemail. If we are closed then the voice mail will say that we are NOT open.
Early Dismissals from FCPS: If FCPS have an early dismissal due to inclement weather then CMAA will also cancel all classes for that day.
We appreciate all of our CMAA members remembering that our first priority is the safety of our students and staff. Our policy is not going to be perfect every time, but it gives us a system to follow so that staff and members know in a reasonable manner if we are closed or open.
PLEASE REMEMBER: After we reopen from an inclement weather closing, primary roads may appear to be fairly clear. However: Parking lots, sidewalks, bridges and non-primary roads may not be in that same condition. Always, proceed with caution.
DURING QUESTIONABLE WEATHER, PLEASE STAY HOME AND OFF THE ROADS IF POSSIBLE.
Stay smart and be safe. You are important to us!
