Our Martial Arts program teaches more than punch and kicks. We help children develop life skills that will take them far beyond the four walls of our Martial Arts School – benefits that will last them a lifetime.
We will help your child increase focus by giving clear goals and demonstrating how to reach those goals through hard work and being consistent. Children ages 6-12 can easily get distracted and lose their focus, but with our program, they will improve their focus and learn how to pay full attention when needed.
Children learn self-control in Martial Arts by learning how important it is to have respect, both for themselves and for others. Our Junior Program teaches that in order to get respect, you first have to give it. Once your child learns this important lesson, his self-control will naturally increase.
One of the things parents appreciate most about our classes is the improvement in their child´s self-discipline. We have wonderful, patient instructors who love to work with children, but are also very clear about limits. We enforce good rules of behavior in class, and we expect the same good behavior at home and in school. Students demonstrate high levels of effectiveness on the mat, and also in school.
Martial Arts training is not like team sports that put greater emphasis only on winning, rather on developing the individual's self-esteem. The belt system is the key. When kids earn their belts, it gives them a great sense of accomplishment that really improves the way they feel about themselves.
The mind is part of the body; the body is part of the mind. The mind is an organ. If the body slows down, so does the mind. If the mind loses focus, so does the body. People who don't exercise are more prone to depression. And Martial Arts help in developing physical confidence through discipline to produce mental confidence. Martial Arts techniques are only mastered if the mind is truly focused. A mind that can accomplish a complex form knows it can accomplish many things.
Not all children are naturally athletic, flexible, and coordinated. Training in our program is filled with balance drills and stretching exercises, and many of the activities serve to develop better coordination. Martial Arts helps the child to develop her body to prepare her to be a strong and healthy adult in the future.
One of the keys to success in life is learning how to set goals and taking steps to achieve them. In our Belt Ranking System, students learn how to set appropriate goals and how to stay focused in order to achieve their goals. As students earn progressively higher belt ranks, these lessons are reinforced. When they ultimately earn their Black Belt, the lesson of setting and achieving goals is instilled for life.
Some people think self-defense is an aggressive response to any situation. But in real life, the best trained martial artist may never get mugged. His or her self-confidence makes an unlikely target, and awareness keeps them out of most situations. We teach the same principle to our children when we teach them to always choose to do the safe things. We prepare students for unwanted situations which may arise and how to react on the situation by staying calm and mentally alert. We teach children highly effective and safe self-defense techniques.
Many parents have attributed that the improvement of their children's grades are direct results of Martial Arts training. As part of the process of advancing through the belt ranks, we encourage children to perform to their full potential in the classroom to achieve academic excellence.
